We’ve recently run an experiment on Facebook with different Share Images and got some pretty significant results.
Here are the variations we tested:
Having just an image with no text performed the worst. Only getting between 6-8% click through rates (CTR).
Adding text to the image boosted the CTR to about 12% CTR.
However, adding text AND a Call to Action increased the CTR to 22% on mobile and 28% on Desktop!
Of course we expect this to vary depending on the quality of the image and the title, but starting today we are implementing a new default design for share images.
We’ve bolded the text and added a contrasting red button at the bottom. We will be continuing to try and beat this share image design and we encourage you to as well!
In the quiz settings we are adding the ability for you to customize the share image. It can now be different than your background image, and you can either remove our text or customize it.
